Enoteca

Taste the results of Progetto Vino, a new Slow Food project for promoting quality Italian wine, at the Enoteca inside the Great Hall of Cheese. Visitors can choose from over 700 different wines produced by wineries participating in the project, many of which also feature in Slow Food Editore’s Slow Wine guide. After putting together your own cheese plate, choose the best wines to pair with your selections. Qualified staff from FISAR, the Italian federation of sommeliers, hoteliers and restaurateurs, will be on hand to provide advice on pairings.

As France is the event’s guest country, alongside the Italian bottles you’ll find a selection of French wines from different regions, perfect for pairing with the 100 French cheeses available for tasting.

Also open during Cheese for tastings and workshops is the Banca del Vino in the 19th-century cellars underneath the Agenzia di Pollenzo. This 2000-square-meter center for storing and aging the best wines of Italy is also a museum of Italian wine, where, glass in hand, visitors can explore the enological landscape of the country, region by region, tasting the wines that represent its history and terroir. The museum is open year-round and tasting courses, events and themed workshops are organized regularly.

Progetto Vino is aimed at wineries who wish to work with Slow Food to promote wine culture through education (with the Master of Food), marketing activities (with the Enoteca at major Slow Food events) and the preservation of historical memory (with the Banca del Vino).

The Enoteca can be accessed by purchasing an entrance ticket for the Great Hall of Cheese. The Enoteca and the Great Hall are under the porticoes in Corso Garibaldi.
